Description of Congregation: The Southside church of Christ has existed for over 50 years, and attendance currently ranges from 60 - 80 for Sunday mornings. The congregation has a good mix of young and older members. It is located south of Grand Rapids metro with a growing community of over 200,000 people (the second largest city in Michigan).

The congregation is actively engaged in the work of the Lord. Evangelistic effort that has been done in the past year are as follows: House to House mailings to over 2,000 households quarterly, New Movers programs through HTH (offer welcome bags to new movers around our church building), school supplies give aways to the school aged kids in our community, and an active letter writing campaign to contacts made in our community. We had 7 baptisms in 2023 and are now engaged in mentoring activities to help these new converts grow in their faith. There are also numerous members who teach Bible classes, and several of the men are capable of preaching as well.

Under the supervision of the elders, expectations of the Pulpit Minister include:
1. Prepare and present Bible-based lessons to challenge and encourage spiritual growth in the
congregation as follows:
• Preach every Sunday morning and 2-3 Sunday evening each month.
• Coordinate and participate in the monthly Sunday Evening dialogue with the Associate Minister.
• Deliver or coordinate devotional/invitation for each Wednesday evening Bible Study.
• At the direction of the elders, preach/teach on specific topics related to the vision for the
congregation or specific needs.
2. Teach Bible classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings for ages 5th grade to Adult.
3. Maintain regular office presence, being accessible to the congregation while maintaining personal time for marriage and family.
4. Lead or collaborate with associate minister in the Tuesday morning Bible class.
5. Build and maintain a close relationship with the congregation by visiting with the sick, shut-ins,
wayward, and faithful in partnership with the elders.
6. Attend coordination meetings with elders/ministers and elders/deacons/ministers.
7. Attend and participate in the monthly area preachers meeting that is coordinated between several
area congregations.
8. Conduct weddings and funerals for members if schedule permits.

Houseparent couples earn a base gross salary of $60,000.00 annually. Gross Salary increases based on prior houseparent experience. The husband serves in the family home and away from it for CHI from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. M-F. Lunch is up to an hour a day.
